Melding computer-based electronic music, live guitar, voice, clarinet and sax, Planetarium (France) is one of the most innovative electronic music acts around. Local electronic-folk experimentalist Xiao He opens. VJ Tan provides the visuals. Free tickets available from Alliance Francaise.
Within the framework of festival Croisements and the International Year of Astronomy 2009, the Alliance française presents a common project of two fabulous musicians who joined their extensive experience and creativity.
Yves Dormoy and Rodolphe Burger first met in the 80s when both were playing in various rock or jazz bands. The album Planetarium was created at the Cité des Sciences in Paris during September 2003 around a new concept for both artists: computer + clarinet or sax (Dormoy) and electric guitar + voice (Burger). Since then, they regularly play together in concerts and festivals (Montreal International jazz festival, Avignon Festival, Nancy Jazz Pulsations, Japan and Uzbekistan tours...). They also composed together the music of the French pavilion (Théâtre Immersif) for the Aichi 2005 World Expo in Japan.
Yves Dormoy is a saxophonist, clarinettist and electronic composer. He founded several experimental and free-jazz bands in the 70’s, came to electric jazz in the 80’s and to computer based music in the 90’s. He created numerous radio productions for the French national radio. He regularly collaborates on electronic projects with artists such as Rodolphe Burger, Antoine Berjeaut, Pablo Cueco or John Tchicai Rodolphe Burger is a composer, guitarist and singer. He founded the famous rock band Kat Onoma in 1980 and published 8 albums with them. He also did extensive tours with Kat Onoma all over the world. He published solo albums and composed/produced for legendary artists such as Francoise Hardy and Alain Bashung. In 2002, he created the label Dernière Bande and published albums with Chloé Mons et Alain Bashung, the American guitarist James Blood Ulmer or French singer and actress Jeanne Balibar.
For their China tour, Dormoy and Burger music will meet VJ Tan Tan and Xiao He for a stellar exploration through images and sounds.
